“Consciousness is only possible through change; change is only possible through movement.” ― Aldous Huxley
My name is Melissa and I am happy to meet you! I am originally from Topeka, Kansas, love to cook, and enjoy a good cat video a couple of times a day. I was first introduced to the joy of movement when my mother asked if I wanted to sign up for jazz class. Granted, I did cry and say I didn't want to learn to play the horn, but she explained that jazz was also a style of dance and I wouldn't have to play the horn. I enrolled and loved it right away. I enjoyed all forms of dance and studied tap, ballet and hip hop, but really found my home in modern and contemporary dance.
As a teacher, dancer, choreographer, grad student and yogi living in Ann Arbor, I must remember to remain in the present and really see the people and environment around me. I am dedicated to the lifelong pursuit of seeking mindfulness in every moment and recognizing opportunities to do this every day.
I believe our bodies are our temples and movement is the path to health, creativity, self-knowledge and inner peace. This is huge and I want to share it with as many people as possible! I am passionate about doing this through teaching, dance, yoga, performance and choreography. I hope you will join me!
That's enough about me!
Thank you for visiting!
